Those who mourn face all the usual seasonal decisions regarding holiday and religious events.  Parties, church services, and time with family and friends are activities that often create stress for those who grieve.

You may need to make different decisions these days if you feel emotionally vulnerable. Seek activities where you can be safely vulnerable with your sorrow. Decline other events as a way to care for yourself, and create new rituals that honor your absent loved one.

If you are a friend or relative of one who grieves, be understanding of their need to make decisions differently, even if they decline to participate as they normally do. This expression of compassion will be very important to them.
